An Overview of our School Music Programme
The New Lynn school music class and orchestra has now successfully completed their ninth year. There were two hundred and eighty-eight school children from year 2 to year 6 that have been taught since this music program was set up in term one, 2011.
Currently there are eleven instrument classes which include violin, piano accordion, flute, cello, keyboard, ukulele, drum kits, French horn, guitar, saxophone, clarinet and trumpet, all undertaken in 2019.
Children learning and studying with the music class will become members of school orchestra. They will generally prepare for three major performances during the year and seven small group-round-school performances to classrooms.
Trumpet, clarinet, flute and violin groups have worked with an APO musician and performed successfully around schools.
We are looking forward to another exciting year with students in 2020 to continue their passion to learn, challenge themselves and gain confidence in performances.
