Hello Rimu Syndicate and whānau
Welcome back to Term 3!
Finally a full term to look forward to. Term 3 is traditionally where students start making the most gains. Revising students' learning at home and helping them with tasks they find challenging will really help.
Construction and classrooms: Kusum Singh and Neelesh Desai moved rooms last term and are now located in Room 4 and 6. Once construction is completed to the old Room 1 and 2 there will be a reshuffle of classrooms for all the Rimu teachers. Construction will hopefully be complete around the start of term 4
Our topics of study this term are:
Topic: Making sense of the physical world with a focus on electricity
Maths: Number: Addition & Subtraction, Measurement: Time, Geometry: 3D shapes
Writing: A moment in time - students will need to be able to help the reader see the world through their shoes. Science fair writing and persuasive writing i.e speeches
Education Outside the Classroom: Outdoor trips to Rocket Ropes and Butterfly Creek
Key competencies: Relating to others, Managing Ourselves, Participating and Contributing
Māori: Matariki and light with a connection to electricity

Parent-Teacher/student-led conferences. Our student-led conferences will be held on Thursday 23 July between 2 - 7 pm This will be an opportunity for you to engage with your child and be involved in an open discussion about the their learning and goals. School will close at 1pm on this date.
Science Fair: Week 10 (last week of term)
School Trip: Friday 18th September (Week 9) Butterfly Creek and Rocket Ropes.
Winter school uniform
Please make sure that all uniforms are clearly named. Talk to your child about putting clothing straight into their bags when they take something off. Check clothes regularly as names do come off in the wash! Students can not wear non-school uniform items during the school day.
Arrival at School
School starts at 8.55am. It would be helpful if all children could be at school by 8.30am so they have the chance to organise their belongings and get ready for the day, as well as having some time to socialise with other children in the classroom or playground. Breakfast Club is open from 8am every morning in the Learning Centre next to the office.
It is very important your child attends school every day so he/she will not miss out on any learning. If your child is away please contact the school prior to 9am on 8274382. If this is not possible please send a note the next day. If you need to take your child out of school during the day you will need to sign them out at the office.
Thank you for your continued support of our school. If you have any queries, questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher directly.
