Room 7 is a Year One and Two class at New Lynn School. Please read our Wiki (below) for the latest information!

We start the school day at 8.55am. We expect that all children will be at school well before the bell rings, organising their things for the day, meeting their friends, and catching up with their teacher.

In Room 7, we start the day with the Roll and our News/Oral language time. Then, we do Maths followed by Writing. After play, we have a story and do our Reading, followed by Handwriting or Music, depending on the day. After lunch, we do our Unit study. This might be a Science, Social studies, Health or Technology topic. We also do Physical education and Art. We visit the Library on Wednesday morning.

Homework: Children take a reader home each night, except Friday when they take their poem book home. They also have an alphabet card and/or a word bag. When they have learnt the first 75 basic reading words, they get a spelling notebook. It is essential that parents read with their child each night and go over the words or alphabet letters.
