Welcome to Rm 5

Hello! My name is Mrs Sharman Davids and I am the teacher in Room 5.  

Term 4
Welcome back! Hope you had a great holiday.
Wow can you believe we are in the last school term of 2016!!!!!
This is going to be a busy term.  Our topic this term is 'Water'. Room 5 will be learning about the water cycle, conservation of water, the importance of water and doing lots of cool water experiments and art.  The school concert is happening on in week 4 on the the 3rd of November.  Please read the newsletters to find out when you can purchase tickets for the concert.  

Term 3
Welcome back hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
This term our topic is  based on the book 'The Lotus Seed'. We will be looking at different cultures, traditions and identities.  We have started practicing for our school concert which is in term 4 and it is also based on 'The Lotus Seed' book.

Week 4: On Wednesday we had a Junior Olympics Day.  Room 5 represented 'China' and we had lots of fun.  The children did great in all the activities and we got 2 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze!!!  

Week 5: Concert practice is going well. Room 5 boys need black pants or shorts (knee length) and a white polo shirt or shirt for the concert.  

Week 6:  Friday 2nd September we are having a  Mufti Day to raise money for the charity 'Kids Can'. Please bring a gold coin donation. 
The theme is 'super heroes'.

Week 7:  Monday 5th September is Teacher Only Day.  School will be closed on this day so please ensure you make the necessary arrangements for your children.

Week 8:  Showcase

Term 2

Welcome back hope you all had a great holiday.
This term our topic is on  Dinosaurs! 
Wk 2:    Maths- we are learning about capacity.  Writing - we are learning to write a recount.
Wk 3: The junior syndicate will be going to Butterfly Creek in week 6 as part of our study on Dinosaurs.  Writing - we are learning to write a report about dinosaurs.  This week is bullying free week and we will be talking about this in class.  As part of  the Bullying Free week, we will be having a 'WEAR SOMETHING PINK' day on Friday 20th May.  A gold coin donation will be required.
Wk6: All the junior classes went to Butterfly Creek as part of topic study on dinosaurs.  We had lots of fun and the children enjoyed the trip.  Thank you to all the parent helpers who came along.


Wk 10:  Lots happening this week!!!  Parent Teacher Interviews. The interviews begin at 2.00pm on Tuesday 5th July. School will finish at 1:00pm on this day.
To celebrate end of term we will be having a mufti day. Please bring a gold coin 
donation. Money raised from this will help subsidise a trip to the art gallery next term.

 Term 1
Wk 1:  Students are settling in well and we are all getting to know each other. Thank you to all the parents who 
            have sent in their child's stationary.  Every child needs to have a book bag please, if they don't they
            will not be getting a book home every night to read. 
Wk 2: Our topic this term is 'People in our community' and we have been talking about some of the people in 
          our local community and what they do.  We have also made self portraits which is displayed in the classroom.
 Wk3: Please remember that school closes at 1pm on Tuesday the 16th due to parent/teacher interviews which will start from 2pm.  
Wk 6: Swimming will start next week. Room 5 will be swimming on  a Tuesday and a Wednesday.  Please send swimming togs, a towel and plastic bag for wet togs.          If your child is unable to swim please advise me by sending a note as to why they are not swimming, Thank you.  Also I will send home a note about our up                 coming trip to Arataki. 
Wk7 : On Thursday Constable Carl will be visiting our class as part of topic about 'People in our Community'. I will load photos on to students seesaw accounts. 

Wk 8:  Swimming on Tuesday and Wednesday.  School will be closed from Friday the 25th to Tuesday the 29th.  Please remember our trip to Arataki is on                                Wednesday the 30th. Please ensure that you have sent back permission slips and $12 to enable you child to go on the trip.
 Wk 9: Hope you all had a lovely Easter Weekend.  Thank you to all the parent helpers on our trip today to Arataki, we had a great day and the kids enjoyed the trip.
