Welcome back to school!

Term One has begun! It's great to be back at school with such lovely children :)

Our first topic this term is all about our school and local community.
Room 7 will talk about: our school environment and the people who work in our school; the rules we follow at school which help to keep us safe and happy; the wider community of New Lynn; and we will have a little look at the way our school has changed over the years (we have some excellent old photographs to share with the children).

We also will look at the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly - always a fun, interesting and valuable topic of high interest to young children. Watch the great video clips (sidebar links above) to see the life cycle in time lapse photography.

Hats: All children need to wear a named blue school hat in terms one and four. Please make sure your child has one - they are available to buy at the school office. We keep them in the classroom.

Swimming: Room 7 swim on Monday and Wednesday at 2.20pm. Please send named togs and towel in a plastic bag.

Homework: All children will bring a reader home every night (except Friday when they bring a Poem home to share with you). They will also have an Alphabet card and/or Word bag. Please go over their letters and/or words every night. This really helps them to pick up and retain letters and words.

Parent-Teacher Interviews: these were held on Wednesday 15 February. It was great to meet all the parents who came in to see me. Please feel free to meet with me again at any time if you would like to know anything about your child's education and development.
