National Standards
Parents/Whanau/Caregivers Information Evening - 22nd September 2010
Presenters: Jane van der Zeyden – Learning Media
Greg Roebuck – Principal
Our Learning Centre left standing room only for parents/whanau to hear and discuss the reasons why National Standards have been introduced by the Ministry of Education.
Greg Roebuck and Jane Van der Zeyden presenting National Standards information to parents and whanau at New Lynn School
Why have National Standards?
- 20% (1 in 5 students) are leaving school without the skills to succeed in our adult world
- Leaving school with NCEA Level 2 opens doors to a child with many options
- Therefore what do students need to do at each Year Level to achieve Level 2 by the end of Year 12?
- The 2008 National Curriculum is our roadmap to how we get there
- Reading ,writing and numeracy standards give us the signposts along the way
This PowerPoint presentation will give you detailed information as presented during our parent/whanau information evening for you to refer to.
