Sport
Our students are involved in a wide range of sports, both individually and in teams.
Two times per week our whole school participates in Jump Jam exercises for fitness. Photos can be viewed on our ‘Day in the Life’ page.
Once a week we play sports against other classes in our syndicate, which is well organised and a lot of fun. Positive sportsmanship is the most important aspect of our sporting activities which include: cricket, swimming, tapuwae, touch rugby, softball, soccer, hockey, netball, relays, gymnastics, athletics, cross country training.
Throughout the year we have teams representing New Lynn School in: Saturday netball, cross country, athletics, gymnastics, inter-school rugby, fun-run fundraiser, inter-school field days (netball, soccer, rugby, hockey).
We have two netball teams playing in the Waitakere netball Saturday competition. A big thank-you to all the parents who get their children to the games each week.
Fun Run
Our school participated in the West Auckland Schools Fun Run on Saturday 24
thJuly 2010. We all ran 3km and had alot of fun.
Push Play
Our whole school took part in our ‘Push Play Day’ organised by our Sports co-ordinator, Mrs Fruean.
We participated in: sprint races, softball throwing, high jump, musical chairs, rob-the-nest, pass-the-water and bean–bag throwing activities. We all got given a refreshing ice-block at the end.
